Join the future of sustainable shipping with Norsepower!
Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey in the heart of maritime innovation? Norsepower, a pioneer in sustainable shipping solutions, is bringing sails back to shipping – and saving the planet at the same time. We are now seeking a dynamic and talented Machine Learning Engineer to join our team.
Norsepower Rotor Sail™ harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepower’s project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support. Each project is planned according to the client’s needs and preferences.
In this new role, you will be part of a motivated department consisting of automation, software, data, and electrical professionals. As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of cutting-edge data processing pipelines and machine learning techniques tailored specifically for optimizing the Norsepower Rotor Sail™ and performance of modern sailing cargo vessels.
In practice, this entails utilizing your expertise in data engineering to handle large data volumes accurately. Additionally, you will drive the exploration and application of machine learning algorithms, enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making. This involves developing predictive models, anomaly detection algorithms, and optimization strategies tailored to maritime challenges. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will identify optimization opportunities across vessel performance areas, such as route planning and energy management, contributing directly to fuel savings and profitability. Furthermore, you’ll stay abreast of technological advancements, proactively identifying innovation opportunities and proposing solutions to complex challenges.
To succeed in this position, we expect you to be a machine learning specialist with a good track record of taking ideas from proof of concept to production deployment. We also expect you to share our passion for innovation and a drive to make a meaningful impact in the maritime industry. Being consistently eager to learn, developing oneself, and thriving in a fast-growing company are key attributes for us. Our office is located in Ruoholahti, and we work in a flexible hybrid model. We hope you would be interested in coming to the office 2-3 times a week, fostering a collaborative work environment.
